The HyggeBlues teachers

We are happy to introduce our lovely team of teachers...

Vicci & Adamo

Adamo and Vicci are dance instructors, organisers, choreographers and DJs specialising in blues dance. They started their blues dancing journey together in London, where they nurtured and grew the blues dance scene, setting up two weekly blues dance events plus a monthly live music event. They created Europe’s first blues dance performance troupe, The Down and Outs, are co-organisers of Espanish Blues Festival in Madrid, and organisers of Bluesology Teacher Training in Valencia, Spain.

Adamo and Vicci have an incredible chemistry on the dance floor. Their passion for both blues music and dance is evident in their inspiring classes, giving dynamic and energetic lessons with a focus on honouring the history of the blues and the African American culture from which it came. Both trained teachers, they strive to bring out and improve dancers technique, confidence, creativity, communication skills, and understanding of the music.

Mike & Dan

Mike Legenthal has been a full-time student and teacher of blues for over a decade.  In her dancing, she seeks to be distinctive and creative, but always driving towards the heart of blues aesthetic and culture.  She immerses herself in the music and in playful, dynamic partnership. As an instructor, she offers both detailed technical descriptions and imaginative metaphors, to reach a wide range of minds. She is clever and respectful, and hopes to leave her students engaged in critical, nuanced critical thought.  Mike’s current projects include being a member and choreographer in the B-Sides, helping to run The Blues Experiment, and researching blues-idiom movement through video, in the hopes of expanding the community’s knowledge base.

Dan is immersed in the music and the movement. He constantly travels to continue learning, happily sharing his ideas along the way. In his teaching, Dan’s enthusiastic approach brings a focus on innovation, connection, and attention to your partner. Dan is also a veteran DJ, spinning for events across the continent and locally on a weekly basis, and has dabbled in organizing for events and local dances. In the end, Dan is most excited to push his dancing and to see his students break through their boundaries.
